Guiness Bread Rolls

Makes about 7 rolls

  • 15g Yeast
  • 350g Warm Water
  • 220ml Guinness
  • 275g Strong Flour
  • 100g Wholemeal Flour
  • 20mls Olive oil
  • 25g Butter
  • Pinch of Sugar
  • Pinch of Salt
  1. Add the yeast to the water and mix until the yeast is dissolved.
  2. In a bowl add the strong flour, wholemeal flour, salt, and sugar.
  3. Rub in the butter.
  4. In a well in the centre of the flour add the water, olive oil and Guinness. Mix until a dough is formed.
  5. Turn out the dough onto a clean surface and knead for about 10 minutes.
  6. Put the dough in a clean bowl and cover with clingfilm or a clean tea towel. Leave to prove until doubled in size.
  7. Split the dough into 100g balls. Roll into smooth rolls and place on a lightly greased baking tray.
  8. Leave for a second prove for about 30 minutes.
  9. Lightly dust with flour and place in a preheated oven at 200oC for 25 minutes.
